Sonu Nigam has sung the first draft of the song and went to abroad for his shows. Later due to schedule problem, the singer wasn't available in India to finish the song on required time so Ghajini makers had to go with Javed Ali. However showing his appreciation for Nigam, Rahman kept his original humming part in the song which ended up becoming iconic and stealing the show.
